During a visit to the Leicestershire Museum Resource Center, I was lucky enough to touch garments that are nearly 200 years old! My favourite being some gorgeous spencer jackets that featured some absoluetly amazing buttons. My favorite is pictured to the right These buttons were completely hand made, it it often blows my mind that people could make things before sewing machines! I obviosuly wanted to replicate this as much as possible, so I thought I would have a go at hand-covering some for my Princess Charlotte dress.

I decide to use plastic buttons as the base as they would be stronger and wouldn't be seen under the fabric covering.

To save time, I bought some ready-emboidered fabric. On such a tiny scale, my poor embroidery skills would be shown off too much for my liking. I praticed a couple of times to ensure I had the right sized circle to fit around the button before completing my first. I'm really pleased with how they turned out!
