Historical Eyelets

I began today undecided. Do I use metal eyelets for strength, or hand sewn eyelets for historical accuracy.

Accuracy was winning by lunch time, and I started to practice some techniques from this tutorial I found on Pinterest. Unfortunetly, my eyelets looks nothing like those. They were so bad that I sacrificially burnt them to appease the sewing gods. Then, I had a brain wave! Why not combine the two! I tested a metal eyelet and then covered it in embroiderey thread! Genius, I hear you cry! Oh sorry, you were saying 'obvious'! Yes, it did seem really obvious after I thought about it but I was still really happy with the result!
